Yield: 12 Serving(s)

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, yeast)

  2. Add water and mix until a dough ball forms (do not add butter)

  3. Knead until it passes the window pane test (about 10mins, probably less)

  4. Bulk rise for 1 hour

  5. Shape into 12 boules (or 8 for even larger rolls)

  6. Let rise for 30 minutes.

  7. Brush tops with butter prior to baking

  8. Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees until golden brown, on the highest rack possible in your oven (note: second from the top is fine)

  9. Brush the tops with honey butter to give it a slightly sweet taste, as soon as you get them out of the oven.

Notes

This recipe was adapted from a bread machine recipe to a hand baked recipe but is otherwise the same.

Don't add the butter to the dough. Or even do add it, but then you'll need 4tbsp instead. I've done it both ways.
